Tip #1

Tip #1

Online relations are important!

Thanks to the technological development in communications, we can today communicate with people around the world without moving from our chairs in our apartments. The internet started a revolution that it is still in progress and everyone that has a computer is taking part of it. With the social networking we can communicate with people we don’t know and if we like the people we meet online we can meet in person building a friendship. The issue that comes from the use of internet is the use of a keyboard to express concepts and feelings. This post is a tool I provide for students that need to communicate everyday with professors or employers.

The most important rule to consider when we communicate on the web is that we need to RESPECT whoever could read the post. The internet is today accessible to everyone so the idea is that we should respect everyone. The caution in posting something on the internet has to be followed by a grammar check. It is very important to express every concept in the clearest way possible avoiding miscommunications.

Writing emails to professors:

-          -   Avoid typing all caps.
-          -   Be as formal as you can at least for your first email.
-          -   Be clear in your concepts.
-          -   Double check before sending.
-           -   Avoid to be sarcastic, do not joke (your instructor could not get your joke).
-          -   Use a recognized account such as your university account or an address with your name.
-          -   Sign your email with your name and last name. Include your contacts just in case.
